
Forensic Engineering is the process of investigating distress or failure of a structure, and includes (but is not limited to) the evaluation of problems caused by settlement, soil swelling or shrinkage, slope movements, moisture intrusion and fire. The forensic investigation strives to diagnose causes of the damage, distress or failure and to develop a plan for repairs.
Structures that are typically investigated include foundations, pavements and floor slabs.
